(a) Grade A Fluid Milk Processor:
Any place, premises, or establishment, including governmental operations where any Grade A milk, Grade A goat milk, Grade A sheep milk or Grade A fluid milk product is collected, handled, controlled, processed, stored, pasteurized, aseptically processed, bottled, or prepared for distribution. It means a processor of Grade A products which meet the standards of identity as listed in CFR Title 21 which have not been cultured nor acidified during the processing of these products. In includes all fat levels and flavors of the products listed.
(b) Grade A Cultured Milk Processor:
Any place, premises or establishment, including governmental operations where any Grade A milk, Grade A goat milk, Grade A sheep milk or Grade A fluid milk product is collected, handled, controlled, processed, stored, pasteurized, ultra pasteurized, aseptically processed, bottled or prepared for distribution. It means a processor of Grade A products which meet the standards of identity as listed in CFR Title 21 which have been cultured or acidified or have safe and suitable organisms added. It includes all fat levels and flavors of the products listed.
(c) Grade A Milk Receiving Station:
A milk plant where Grade A milk is received, collected, handled, stored, or cooled and is prepared for further processing or transportation.
(d) Grade A Milk Transfer Station:
A milk plant where Grade A milk or milk products are transferred directly from one milk tank truck to another.
(e) Grade A Condensed Milk Products Processor:
A plant in which Grade A milk or Grade A milk products are received, separated or otherwise processed for condensing.
(f) Grade A Dry Milk Products Processor:
A plant in which Grade A milk or Grade A milk products including Grade A condensed milk are received, separated or otherwise processed for drying.
(g) Manufacture Milk Receiving Station:
A milk plant where manufacture raw milk is received, collected, handled, stored, or cooled and is prepared for further transporting.
(h) Manufacture Milk Transfer Station:
A milk plant where manufacture milk or milk products are transferred directly from one milk tank truck to another.
(i) Butter Manufacturer:
A plant that manufactures “butter” which is the clean, non rancid product made by gathering in an acceptable manner the fat of fresh or ripened milk or cream into a mass which also contains a small portion of the other milk constituents with or without salt, and contains not less than eighty percent (80%) of milkfat.
(j) Frozen Desserts Manufacturer:
A plant that manufactures frozen desserts including mixes as described in 21 CFR 135 as amended, unless otherwise specified by the director by rule.
(k) Natural Cheese Manufacturer:
A cheese manufacturer that manufactures cheese or cheese products as listed in 21 CFR and not defined elsewhere.
(l) Processed Cheese Manufacturer:
A plant that processes products as listed in 21 CFR 133.167 pasteurized blended cheese, 133.168 pasteurized blended cheese with fruits, vegetables or meats, and 133.169 pasteurized process cheese.
(m) Cottage Cheese Manufacturer:
A plant that manufactures products as listed in 21 CFR 133.128, 133.129 and 133.131. In Ohio, these products shall be regulated within the Grade A milk rules as adopted.
(n) Condensed Milk Products Manufacturer:
A plant in which manufacture milk or milk products are received, separated or otherwise processed for condensing.
(o) Dry Milk Products Manufacturer:
A plant in which manufacture milk, manufacture milk products including manufacture condensed milk is received, separated or otherwise processed for drying.
(p) Dairy Product Blender:
A plant where two or more previously processed dairy products are combined to create a substantially different dairy product.
(q) Non-standardized Dairy Product Manufacturer:
A manufacturer of dairy products for which there has been no specific standard of identity yet established. This category includes but is not limited to specialty cheeses where there are claimed formulas such as low sodium, flavored, vegetables or meat added. It includes goat or sheep milk dairy products which do not come under Grade A requirements. It includes cheese for manufacturing such as products that are manufactured into a blended process cheese food or spread as well as cheeses that are processed for flaking, grating or chunking and are sold in that form.
(r) Transport vehicle washing facility:
Any place, premises, or establishment, separate from a milk plant, receiving station or transfer station, where a milk tank truck is cleaned and sanitized.
